What is Lifestyle Excess Protection?

Save Money

Lifestyle excess insurance can give you peace of mind that if you need to make a claim on one of your insurance policies, your excess can be reimbursed.

Covers policies where you are the Policyholder which are insured by a UK authorised and regulated insurer. You could save money by being able to claim back any excess amounts on a claim you make. You could also save by lowering premiums by opting for a higher voluntary excess on your standard policy.

This policy covers Pet, Travel, Home & Motor Policy Excesses.

Pet, Travel, Home & Motor

This Lifestyle Excess Protection Insurance will

reimburse the lesser of the value of your excess under any of the following policies or to the level of your chosen amount (whichever is the lower)

You can claim under this policy more than once during the period of insurance but we will only reimburse you up to a total of your chosen amount.

  • A private motor vehicle owned and insured by you which is noted on your motor insurance policy;
  • The insurance policy covering veterinary treatment fees following an accident or illness to your pet cat(s) or dog(s) kept at main residence for domestic purposes only;
  • The buildings and/or contents insurance cover for a property which you own, are the executor for or are the tenant of.
  • A travel insurance policy providing cover in respect of medical expenses, cancellation, curtailment or abandonment, delay or loss of baggage whilst you are travelling away from your main residence.

The Exclusions

  • Pet insurance for any cat or dog used for business purposes
  • Claims exceeding the aggregate limit of your chosen amount in any one period of insurance;
  • Any claim reported to us more than 30 days after settlement of your claim by your motor, pet, home or travel insurer;
  • Any claim which is not covered by your primary motor, pet, home or travel insurance policy or which is declined by the insurer;
  • Where the excess is not exceeded under your primary motor, pet, home, or travel insurance policy

When getting quotes for your Various Insurances (Pet, Travel, Home &  Motor) Choosing a higher voluntary excess will help to bring down the cost of your insurance premiums because the insurer won't have to pay out so much in the event of a claim. On the flipside, this means that you'll be the one coughing up the extra cost if you have to make a claim.

Excess Protection insurance works alongside your Insurance policies. If you have to make a claim against your Pet, Travel, Home or Motor policy, then you can claim on our Excess Protection policy to recover the excess you have had to pay out. Excess Protection can be particularly useful for young drivers, as increasing the excess can bring the premiums down by hundreds of pounds.

With our Excess Protection policy, you can choose a claim limit of £200, £500, £750, £1000 and £2000. Our prices start from just £45 per year.

You choose the claim limit to suit you. For example a policy with a limit of £1000 could allow one claim of £1000, or four claims of £250, you decide.

A Word of Warning

You must be aware that increasing the excess too much could cause you issues with small claims. For example, if you increase your excess to £2000 and then you have a small bump, let's say it costs £1000. In this instance, you can't claim on your motor policy because it's less than £2000 and this means you can't claim your excess back from your excess protection policy. This means that you would have to stand the cost of the claim.

We also offer Multi Vehicle Family Excess Protect, if you want one policy to cover up to 5 vehicles
