One Policy Covers Your Whole Family

Our standard Key Cover policy costs £20 per year. It provides cover for all members of your family that live at your home address. The policy includes Key Finder fobs for up to 4 people. Additional fobs can be purchased at a cost of £1 per fob. There is no cover for 28 days from starting the policy.

Cover for replacement keys
Up to £1500 when your keys are lost, stolen, or damaged by accidental means. Covers locksmiths charges & new locks (if a security risk has arisen)

Up to three days vehicle hire
If your vehicle is unusable as a result of lost or stolen keys (up to £40 per day payable)

Travel costs to get you home
Onward transport costs if you become stranded because of lost or stolen keys. 

Keys locked in your vehicle
We will arrange a suitable contractor and pay up to £50 to get you back in your vehicle.

Damaged or Broken Keys
Up to £50 in respect of keys which are unusable due to being damaged or broken in the lock.

Important Exclusions - Please Read
There is no cover for the first 28 days of starting cover. You are not insured if there are duplicate keys available to you immediately or within a reasonable period of time, unless we are satisfied that accessing your duplicate keys would cause undue hardship or significant expense.The decision as to what constitutes undue hardship or significant expense will be made by us and may depend upon how easily you can access your duplicate keys.

This means that if you lose your keys, then there is a good chance that we will get them back for you. We offer a reward to the finder, to encourage them to report to us, so that we can get them back to you as quickly as possible.

  • Our Key Cover will protect any vehicle, home or office keys (including security safe keys and any immobiliser, infrared handset and/or alarm which is integral to any insured key if it cannot be repaired or reprogrammed).
  • Covers the policyholder and any immediate member of their family, including named drivers for motor key cover
  • When your insured keys are lost, stolen or damaged by accidental means, our Key Cover will pay up to £1,500 in any one period of insurance in respect of: i) locksmiths charges ii) new locks (if a security risk has arisen) and iii) replacement insured keys. 
  • Vehicle hire for a period of up to 3 days if your vehicle is unusable as a result of lost or stolen keys.
  • The cost of onward transportation if you are stranded due to loss or theft of keys.
  • £50 payable if your keys are locked in your property or vehicle. We will arrange for a suitable contractor to attend.
  • Insured keys that are unusable due to being damaged or broken in the lock up to the policy limit of £50.
  • Our Key Cover has a 24 hour, 365 days a year emergency helpline.
  • Access to a nationwide network of locksmiths.
  • Our Key Cover has no excess to pay.
  • No claims discount on main home or motor policy not affected.

Safeguarding Your Keys

 There are a number of ways in which you can take precautions to better protect your keys as follows:
  • Never attach anything to your keys that contains your name, address or any details of where your car may frequently be parked and never leave keys unattended.
  • Never hide keys under door mats, bins or on top of window frames as an opportunistic thief may be watching, or may guess where keys may be hidden.
  • Never leave doors or windows open, even by a small amount.
  • Never leave your keys in your vehicle, even for a moment, especially when you are visiting petrol stations, or whilst loading or unloading your vehicle. Always lock your car when leaving it.
  • Do not keep duplicate keys on the same key ring as your main keys.
  • Burglars are increasing turning to key crime as sophisticated security measures are now fitted as standard to new cars, and have been known to break into homes and offices just to steal car keys.
  • Never leave car keys close to the front door where they can be seen.

Conditions & Exclusions

Territorial limits are the Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands or the Isle of Man; Stolen keys must be reported to the police and a valid crime reference obtained. All claims must be reported within 30 days of occurrence. Cover only in UK. 48 hrs waiting period from inception unless continual previous cover in place. Cover only applies for the policyholder if keys are attached to fob. 3 day waiting period exists for lost or stolen Keys. Consideration will be given to waive waiting period if this delay causes undue hardship or significant expense. Stolen keys have to be reported to police and crime no obtained 30 days claims notification period.
